The crowd was deafening in the third period, louder than it’s been since the playoffs last Spring in fact, with just 5 minutes left in a 3-2 game against the Detroit Red Wings. Sure, the Wings aren’t what they were — too many injuries — but they are still an elite team, and how would we perform? With Pittsburgh looming on Thursday, this seemed like a must-win.
It was goal #3 that really got us all going. A fluky bounce. They didn’t announce it for what seemed like forever. I thought it was Steckel, but then the big screen showed Alzner. Even the replay wasn’t clear.
Bottom line, when Steckel scores, the Caps win (games that maybe they shouldn’t). We’ll take it … Watch out Pens, here we come.
